Matt Goerke signs with Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha for 2015

Rockstar Energy Drink/OTSFF/Yamaha is pleased to announce the signing of Florida native Matt Goerke to their MX1 team for the 2015 CMRC Motocross Nationals. Goerke will make his debut with the team, however, at the MEC Supercross in Las Vegas on October 18, 2014 alongside Bobby Kiniry and Kyle Chisholm.

“We’re excited to have a rider of Matt’s calibre joining our team. We reached out to him at the end of the season and when he said he was interested in returning to Canada, it was pretty well a done deal, other than going through the formalities and reaching an amicable agreement,” team owner Andre Laurin said.

Goerke quickly established a fan base in Canada in 2011, after bouncing back from a wrist injury that saw him miss the western rounds, to claim an MX1 National win with a clean sweep at Gopher Dunes. A number of other podium finishes saw Goerke score fifth overall in the title hunt. He capped the season with a win in the MX1 final at the Montreal Supercross.

After nailing down the German ADAC Supercross SX1 Championship first, Goerke returned to Canada in 2012, this time confirming his talent by totally dominating the MX1 Championship. He won seven of nine rounds, six with impressive clean sweeps. He also won the MX1 final again at the Montreal Supercross. Commitments in the U.S. kept Goerke out of the mix the following two seasons, but he is pumped to be coming back next year.

“It’s a great feeling to be returning to Canada and joining up with a top professional team like Rockstar/OTSFF/Yamaha. I liked how everything sounded, tried the bike and I was sold. I’m loving it and feeling really good about the whole thing.” Goerke said. “I think we got a really good shot at winning the championship. I’m not making any illusions by any means. I know there will be some tough competition to go up against, but I’m pretty confident that I will do well, especially on this team and the YZ450F bike.”

When not racing, riding, training or traveling to motocross and supercross events across the globe, Goerke enjoys wakeboarding, jet skiing, and kicking back with his family and friends. He has called Florida home for years, but is a part-time Californian resident as well.
